Ian Adcock

Dr Adcock is Professor of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology at the National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London.  He obtained his PhD in molecular pharmacology from St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School in 1987 before joining Professor Peter Barnes at NHLI in 1990 to study glucocorticoid actions in the airway.  He has subsequently worked on inflammatory and oxidative stress mechanisms in severe asthma and COPD.  Professor Adcock is Head of the ERS Assembly 5 (Airways Diseases) and has published over 350 publication with an H Index of 102.  His research has been supported by the EU-IMI, Wellcome Trust, MRC, BBSRC, Asthma UK, British Lung Foundation and British Heart Foundation as well as several Pharmaceutical companies
